I finally chose the tool I’m going to use to address the need for backlogging all the (potentially useful) stuff I come across daily on the net. It’s Pocket.
I had tried Instapaper and ReadItLater (whence Pocket descends) a long while ago but they had not lived up to their reputation.
Pocket helps me by managing this queue (a pile of web stuff, really) which was up to now stored partly in my mind (mental pollution) or buried in my email inbox or Delicious.
The tipping point was for me the ease of collection. That’s the area where Pocket has become very good since ReadItLater. The integrations are great.
Now I know that whenever I feel like reading web stuff I can turn to Pocket and be assured that everything is parked there and nothing is getting forgotten elsewhere.
An ideal companion tool for a GTD system in an area where Remember The Milk (which I’m a long-time user) is weak, that is URL management.
